The window on the third floor
looks at a wall.
A bird sits on the ledge
made of stone.
It hasn't moved
since last winter.

A notice on the glass:
Do not open.
The tape has yellowed.
The bird has no shadow.
The bird is paint.

One of them
does not move.

I watch it during calls.

A feather would have fallen

The paint is cracked

A new starter asks
